Also on USA.

Enemy Territory, Quake Wars allows teams of players to take the roles of Global Defense Force soldiers and alien Strogg warriors to compete against one another in mission-oriented scenarios. Class-specific abilities encourage teamwork among squad mates, giving each player in the group an important role based on the soldier-type chosen. To welcome newer players to the field, aspects of play such as mission-objective listings and vehicle piloting have been simplified, while features such as character upgrades and global stat-tracking offer dedicated players opportunities to benefit from strong performances and hard-won victories.

PlayStation 3

When the first Enemy Territory: Quake Wars was first released way back in 2007, it was met with excitement because of the multi-player-shooter objective-based action on the PC. And because not everyone was attracted to the game design, soon the Xbox 360 version was released and then finally the PlayStation 3 was too. What was expected to be a great and fun game came out to be lacklustre games which lacked any upgrades from the original PC game. This resulted to a game feeling outdated when compared to other popular console shooter games like Call of Duty 4.

For those who are not familiar with Quake, there is nothing new in Quake Wars. Looking at the screenshots, it is easy to see that there are humans who are fighting off alien creatures on an Earth-like planet. These aliens are the Strogg which have invaded the planet and the last defence if the Global Defense force. The story is set in the year 2065 and the events in Quake wars are actually what had happened before the Quake II game plot. For those who would like to learn more about the plot, they have to get out of the game and go on a search engine to type out the keyword Quake. The worst thing is, this research online can be done while waiting for the loading screen to finally finish.

The gamer has the option to choose between playing as a GDF or as a Strogg. The battle would have to be done on the 12 gigantic maps which boast being more than one square kilometre of carrying structures and terrain. There are the usual standards like cities, jungles, desert and other environments which are well balanced in design and are a great mix of both indoor and outdoor areas, giving the chosen character a chance to shine in their particular skill.

The key to winning in the game is to have cooperation within the team or squad. This cooperation would lead to coordinated attacks as well as the use of the appropriate skills of each squad mate. However, it may take some time to find out about the different abilities so the gamer has to get out and look over the instruction booklet.

For those who are looking for something different in Quake Wars, there is no difference between the PS3, the Xbox 360 and the PC version. There is no apparent upgrade so it comes out a bit mediocre, especially when the gamer has to think about the price. Value wise it is hard to recommend the game but players would still love to play the multi-player mode, although it is only limited to 16 players.
Quake Wars comes out a bit shallow in the end and if the gamer is a fan of the online shooter games, then it would be best that it be played on the PC with a group of friends.
