FIFA 16 is a football simulation video game which was published by EA Sports for the majority of consoles, these consoles include the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and finally the PC. This is the latest title to be released under the FIFA franchise and much improvement has been done since the previous release known as FIFA 15.
This latest football game is the first in the FIFA franchise to include female players. The game boosts 12 Women’s National Teams, it is also the first football game to include a women to appear on the video game artwork cover. The game received generally positive reviews around the internet, some scholars praising the game for its realism and authenticity throughout, the game offers a huge 50 world venues for the gamer to partake in, and also 78 stadiums dotted around the globe. The game has also been given a new Training Mode which is an adaption, or expansion to the Career Mode, this in turn allows players to develop footballers in the team without the need to actually play the matches, developing stats, improvements overall.
We mentioned realism in the review and some clarity should be given here, the realism works, the graphics are as stunning as ever, in fact it can be considered an improvement on previous FIFA releases in that department. The Goalies are as sharp as ever, to sharp on occasions, more so when basic shots are driven towards them, they simply cling to the ball, without any variant or randomness. You expect in matches to have the occasional random variant, yet like so many other football titles this is often left out of the mix, the accidental home goal, or it came off his elbow, from playing this title a couple of times I seen very little evidence of this. Granted some variants are evident, but it always seems to be left out of the crucial aspect of the game, actual scoring.
I suppose what FIFA should be praised for the most is the actual inclusion of the women’s teams, not only including them, but using motion capture software to dynamically add the realism to the overall player in both feel and looks, sensitivity when playing the game. To be honest I am a little baffled as to what it took them so long to include this, more so when it has obviously been done for the male football market. Either way I am happy they have included this, no doubt it will mean a much wider audience of gamers who wish to dive into the football world, more so online which only enhances the overall randomness and styles of gameplay depicted on the pitch.
In FIFA 16 you are able to use 25 innovative feature changes to mobility and locomotion to track skilled players. Mobile defenders can close down space and change direction quickly using swing-step behavior to stay with your opponent. You'll feel freedom of movement as you track runs and look to break up attacks. You are also able to defend together. Rely on your teammates to cover gaps when you close down an attacker. New defensive AI gives players better awareness of dangerous space on the pitch relative to the ball and their opponent. Your teammates will track back to stop sophisticated attacking runs, and close down angles of attack.
What FIFA 16 has really done is branch away a lot more from previous known repetitions of styles, it is nice to see not only fluidity in the overall gameplay, but actually thinking outside the box, looking for new ways in which to enhance the overall experience, which I feel they have achieved. Whether the same can be said when putting against other such titles as Pro Evolution Soccer 16, or other worldly known titles is something which remains to be seen. I feel FIFA usually has the edge over other rival titles so I would imagine this title is no different when compared to others.
If you are a football fan then to be honest it would be hard to imagine you have not pre-ordered this, or purchased it, most avid football fans often buy both FIFA 16 and PES 16 as standard each year they release a new title, since few games are released in this particular sport. Given a choice you should opt to purchase this on the latter consoles, new generation, the Xbox One or PlayStation 4, since the superior graphics only adds to the appeal and experience within the game.
