2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil is the most definitive, colourful and atmospheric World Cup game yet. There are 203 teams to choose from, 7,469 players, 19 officially licensed managers, all 12 World Cup stadiums, a 34-song soundtrack and more than 15 hours of new match commentary from Clive Tyldesley and Andy Townsend. A virtual version of FIFA President Sepp Blatter is even on hand to award your team the World Cup trophy. The game captures the World Cup’s signature carnival atmosphere both inside and outside the stadium. Banners, flags, seat cards, painted faces, costumes, confetti, fireworks and streamers help get the party started.

2014 World Cup Brazil has arrived but only in versions playable on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and perhaps this is a missed opportunity to showcase a soccer game on the new PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. Nevertheless they have made a pretty good job on their chosen platforms.

The game is reputed to contain nearly 5,700 players and all 203 of the national teams which took part in the qualifying rounds of the cup and this represents all but a few of the teams eligible to enter. All twelve Brazilian venues are also presented and in the Road to Rio Mode you get to play in them. There are also another nine stadiums scattered around the globe.

The presentation of FIFA World Cup Brazil is pretty much what we've kind of grown to expect from previous offerings of World Cup games. The stadiums look great, the twelve Brazilian stadiums are in there and a great deal of attention has been used to get everything from the stadiums to the logos looking authentic. But how do you know the stadium is really presented accurately if you have never seen the real thing? However, it's all really nicely laid out and there has been a good attempt at portraying a Brazilian carnival atmosphere with the help of well chosen soundtracks and commentary from real commentators. Some may say that that all the ceremonial and carnival stuff are not too important and that the game will soon lose its interest when the real World Cup is over. Who knows?

The action is not restricted to Brazil as you can play with teams all through the qualifying stages in many cities, some well known like Paris, Berlin and London and some less well known and looking more like shanty towns, but you don't have to come from the world's richest countries to become a major soccer force. In the early qualifying stages you can play in some of the less well known venues.

On the whole I think this is one of the best presented and improved FIFA titles in terms of a consistent design throughout the game, especially if you go back and compare it with just the standard FIFA series. There are some really cool new flashy menus to make navigation easy. The on field action also has many new improvements in dribbling and passing with many new animations including penalty kicks and goal celebrations. There seems to be more emphasis on close up action such as tackling and less on accurate passing to make the play a bit more action packed. While giving more animated action it does not accurately mirror the playing style of most teams.

Wherever you go in the final Road to Rio mode you consistently feel a Brazilian atmosphere. As a package it is probably one the best presented FIFA titles I have ever played. Talking about presentation, everything is up to date and spot on, right down to the finest detail, the quality that goes into these World Cup games cannot be criticized too much; although not prefect, when it comes down to basics the game scores pretty highly. For me, the game's high point is when you get stuck into the tournament playing with your friends, this is what really keeps it alive and kicking!
