They've come and now they've gone, and what a sporting spectacle the 2012 London Olympics proved to be. So now is the time to take a look at a game that lets you and your friends get a piece of the Olympic action, albeit not the real thing. This game allows interactive participation in almost all of the better known events and some less well known across the whole spectrum of events, either online or off. There are online leaderboards so you can compare your records, performances and statistics with others. You can also keep track of medal tallies. If you have the necessary four controllers there is a facility for up to four players to compete offline and eight players online.

There are thirty disciplines to choose from, which is probably more than any other comparable sports game, and As you would expect, each separate event has it's own control functions requiring different gaming skills making for a wide variety of things to learn even apart from the rules of the sports themselves. As in the real sporting arena certain players will become more adept at some sports than at others.

The following is a list of games in no particular order of preference but obviously sports naturally fall into certain groupings.

Track and field
100m (men only)
110m hurdles (men only)
200m (men only)
Discus (men only)
High jump
Javelin (men only)
Long jump (men only)
Shot (men only)
Triple jump (men only)

3m springboard diving
3m synchronised springboard diving[N 2][N 1]
10m platform diving
10m synchronised platform diving[N 2][N 1]
Swimming 50m freestyle
Swimming 100m backstroke
Swimming 100m breaststroke
Swimming 100m butterfly
Swimming 100m freestyle

Beach volleyball (women only)[N 2]
Canoe slalom K1 Kayak (men only)
Cycling Keirin (men only)[N 2]
Rowing Single sculls (men only)
Table tennis (men only)
Weightlifting over 105kg (men only)

Trampoline (men only)

25 metre rapid fire pistol (men only)
Skeet shooting

The game is well worth buying and is great played on or offline but does need an element of competition. Some of the individual games are alone well worth the price of the full game. But how on earth did sports like Beach Volleyball and Synchronized Diving ever become Olympic sports, you might just as well include darts. But if they are indeed recognized as Olympic disciplines the game developers were justified in including them.
