Monopoly - Wii

Also on USA.

Monopoly features smooth 3D graphics, expressive animations, and ten stylized game boards with themes such as jungle, arctic, and future. The game's World Edition game boards are based on real-life world capital cities, and bonuses are unlocked as players fill up their virtual passports by playing in each one. The 2008 edition also introduces a "Richest" mode, which is a more fast-paced, party-game styled approach to Monopoly. Players compete in mini-games to earn dice rolls. Dice roles determine the number of properties the player is dealt each turn. The player takes possession of any unclaimed properties that are dealt, but pays rent on any properties that are owned by another.

Nintendo Wii

This game has been in the world for 70 years now and is still widely being played by people of all ages, there are even competitions held. So, to make things more fun, EA has released their version of the game on Wii. The main question now is, "is it properly presented since it’s just a board game?" or "can a storyline be made on this kind of game?" Well, the answer is yes and yes. It’s got a very impressive presentation and an accurate recreation with regard to the game's rules and mode of play.

The mechanics of the game is pretty much the same. The game commences with four players competing with each other in a round of the classic game. Just like the board game, you will be able to take turns in rolling a dice through the Wii Remote. The result of the rolled dice will be the number of steps that you will be taking. This will continue until an individual reaches the finish line to declare victory. Of course, getting to the finish line will not be that easy as you will face many obstacles along the way.

As you go through the game, you can purchase, invest, build or buy houses and hotels or other properties that can prove useful to you financially. You can also use your investments or money to defeat the other members of the game, for instance buying facilities like banks allows you to lend money at high interest rates.

This game like its board counterpart is all about money and how to make it. The basics of the game remain the same but the video version has added ways to make it more interesting such as cities other than London being used as locations. If you are a die-hard conservative fan of this much-loved game you can still play it in its basic format. In my opinion the original board game needs nothing added to it but in today's gaming age board games in their basic form no longer offer sufficient excitement to keep a younger audience occupied.
