Grid is an extremely satisfying racing game that goes on to present the depth of racing discipline fundamentals. This game has an excellent online lobby system and great visual graphics. However, it focuses on the driver’s importance in the game, and does not offer mechanical upgrades for the vehicles whenever you want to pimp them up. There is also no split-screen view for multiplayers.

It is Codemasters’ Race Driver series’ goal to draw the racing game fans’ attention to the driver players instead of in the cars, and they have done a pretty good job. It will let you feel the emphasis on the racing game itself, rather than just being amused with its great visual and graphical backgrounds, which are almost giving you a chance to travel around the world.

It offers you different modes to play on, you can be a top racing driver on the career mode, be a freelance driver, have your own team, and even get a sponsor for a new car. This new game also has a 12-player online mode which has flashback feature, and though a bit lacking, still provides a new idea for the racing game enthusiasts.

The game’s locations are set up between Europe, US and Japan, each has a different mixture of style and modes to offer. You can race in Nurburging, Doningoton Park, Le mans, and Milan in Europe, street race in Washington, San Francisco, Detroit and other states in US, and just roam around in short racing tracks in Japan.

Much like a real racing game, Grid World aims to let you become the most famous driver ever - win races, earn money, play at difficult levels, earn sponsor bonuses, and choose your vehicles to use for different racing events., that can either be brand new or bought secondhand on eBay motors. Sounds advertising, eh? However, it does not give you the option to pimp or change a part of your vehicle, but rather sell it and buy a new one.

It boasts the new flashback option, wherein you can rewind time and get back on the point where you had a head-on collision, just to be able to return back in to the game. You will have flashback options depending on the difficulty of the level you choose, and if you did not use the feature, it guarantees a cash incentive at the end of the game. It is a great addition to the game, as it gives the gambling element onto it, and makes it more interesting. For hardcore players, the game also presents pro mode, which has a no-restart mode at any race, and gives a more difficult lap for you.

Control-wise, it is a very responsive and overall tolerable, except for the first few races. Overall it is enjoyable and very thrilling, with stable braking and stability system which lets you carry out cool braking maneuvers. Its AI drivers actually take risks and make mistakes during the whole race, and the AI drivers really fight cleverly and challenging in order to lead in the game.

Grid’s menus are very easy to navigate, and it is overall a well thought game, with incredible attention to detail. You might just be annoyed with sponsor logos and voices that come in every now and then, but you will admire the whole system.
