Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 2 PC

Summary:

Much like the first game in this spin off series, Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army 2 is a rather boring experience if you only plan to play it on your own. Everything about this game is built for that co-op experience, operating much like the horde mode found in quite a few games.

Sniper Elite is a series that has found quite a bit of popularity in certain circles. It's requirement for extreme precision on the players behalf similar to the level of precision that you would expect to find in a real sniper, the games are extremely well known for their hard but fair difficulty, as well as their X-Ray vision for when the player makes the perfect shot actually happen.

Only eight months before the release of Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army 2, the first game came out which traded out Sniper Elite's traditional enemies with their zombie counterparts, and managed to introduce a few new interesting concepts to the series, including a very exciting co-operative mode. That said, this sequel barely manages to add any new mechanics and instead treads extremely familiar territory, feeling like a cheap and easy cash-in on the part of the developers.

Much like the first game in this spin off series, Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army 2 is a rather boring experience if you only plan to play it on your own. Everything about this game is built for that co-op experience, operating much like the horde mode found in quite a few games.

Thankfully, the way that the sniping works continues to have not changed since Sniper Elite V2 was released, and still remains as solid as it has ever been. If you are looking for a realistic simulation of how sniper rifles work against hordes of undead, Sniper Elite Nazi Zombie Army 2 is definitely the game that you should be looking for.

The primary mechanic revolves around you and some friends figuring out how to barricade and bottleneck the passage of zombies through a level while you find the perfect spots for sniping the zombies as they pass through those bottlenecks.

However, you can carry a sub machine gun and a piston for close up encounters, but it is as clear as ever that this game was simply not built for you to make use of anything that is not a sniper rifle.

Quite frankly, this game feels like what would happen if you tried to make the Call of Duty Zombies mode into a full game - and the problems that a game such as that would face are very much faced by this title as well. Thankfully it only costs $15, and it can certainly make a fun distraction for a short amount of time - though it is worth considering whether or not that short amount of time is worth the amount of money for you personally.

To be sure, this is very much a game where personal experience and opinion will color your enjoyment of it. If you played the first game, you very likely have no reason to pick this one up as it remains almost exactly the same. Likewise, without a close-knit group of friends, it becomes dull and boring rather quickly.

However, it's hard to say that this is a poorly made game, or that there aren't people that will enjoy it. If the idea of a standalone Call of Duty Zombies game appeals to you, and you have not played the first title in this series, this can be an excellent game to play with friends. Sure, there are some problems with the game itself, but most of the problems have to do with the quick follow up time on the original, and the fact that there are not very many new mechanics to be had. There aren't many games like this, and if the idea appeals to you, give it a shot.
