The story was inspired from the movie I Robot. Sonic found an ancient relic that turns out to be an important possession of the mother robot. Sonic talks to Dr. Robotnik if he has something to do with the calamity but the fat doctor denies it which of course not true because he is the one behind all the chaos. The story is very predictable and out of nowhere there are additional characters that are a far cry to the flow of the story such as the Babylon Rogues which are composed of hoverboarding birds. They will eventually lead Sonic to the Crimson tower which turns out to be a color blue tower.

The length of the story is only 2 hours, that is 2 hours, not 12, the player must go thru the Zero Gravity to proceed to the next game. The only option after completing Zero Gravity is to win the time attack, survival or the world grand prix mode then after it the player will just have the opportunity to earn extra points to buy upgraded weapons.

The main part of the game is the racing but using the Wiimote is difficult. The command is not clear and you will find it hard to control. Most players preferred to use the PS2 version rather than the Wii version. The only interesting technique is when doing a sharp turn and doing the sling shot technique. The player needs to hold the button to have enough time to turn to the right direction then release the button to slingshot to the said direction.

The slingshot technique is exciting to learn but can only be use once, only in turning in a peak or a cliff. It is not a hundred percent effective technique which depends on timing but most of the time it won’t work. Jumping is also one way of earning points or energy for sonic. By jumping you can have the energy for turning and dashing. The hoverboard can only be activated if you can collect enough rings but still you need to continuously collect rings to activate the other functions of the hoverboard such as the grind, the air and the wheel.

The designs and graphics of Sonic Rider Zero Gravity are just fine and the music is sometimes interesting and engaging. It actually captures the thrill of using speed but it doesn’t have an edge to be valuable enough to spend your hard earned cash.
